The Mid Suffolk Ogden Partnership was launched this academic year with an inter-school competition for Year 11 students held at King Edward’s High School in Bury St Edmunds. Five schools entered teams of four students and the students had to solve some practical problems, answer some challenging physics questions, and figure out some impenetrable physics dingbats, among other problems in a circus of activities. The competition ended with a ‘university challenge’ quiz featuring the two top teams from the earlier rounds.
We have also been holding a series of Isaac Physics masterclasses and have held a Year 9 astronomy evening at Culford. Our next event is a physics-based Key Stage 2 day to be held at the start of Science Week this March.
Setting up the group has involved a number of schools getting together and has not been without workload issues but we hope to continue and expand with more schools joining and offering activities next year.
