We are having a great first year as an Ogden partnership. We were lucky enough to have our local secondary school Farmor’s hold an enrichment day for our cluster schools in July. The year 4, 5 and 6s used Bunsen burners, made ‘eggstranauts’ and created their own indicators. It was a jam-packed day of science which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Many of our cluster schools have held outreach stargazing events run by the Chipping Norton Astronomy Association which have been successful in raising the profile of physics both within school and at home.
We were also lucky to have Team Tim run shows at Ann Edwards and Fairford for the cluster, giving the children a chance to talk with Tim prior to his return to Earth. They enjoyed doing challenges to help Tim complete his daily tasks especially when it involved recycling urine into drinking water!
The Phizzi Forces, Phizzi Light & Sound and the most recent EYFS CPD days have been well attended and have had an immediate impact on the skills and resourcing of teachers within our cluster. The resources and training back in school have been well received and classrooms are buzzing with science.
Fairford CofE Primary school achieved their Gold PSQM in September. In the very near future we are looking forward to opening our own Phiz Lab in our new solar dome and having many more enrichment days for the cluster.
