John Best: Honorary Fellowship

John Best Honorary Fellowship University of SuffolkThis month, Ogden Consultant John Best joined an esteemed group, including Ed Sheeran, Michael Murpurgo and Keeley Hawes (to mention just a few of the names you may recognise), when he received an Honorary Award from the University of Suffolk.

Each year, the University confers Honorary Awards on notable individuals, recognising their contribution to the local community or the university; at the ceremony in October, John received an Honorary Fellowship for his work in local business.

As his Fellowship citation noted, John has built a reputation as a dynamic leader with an enviable track record in developing businesses and organisations in sectors ranging from energy, enterprise and marine to waste, safety and retail.”

John has used his experience, networking skills and strategic links in his leadership of the Ogden Energy Internship Scheme, launched in Suffolk in 2016, and one of the many notable achievements that have contributed to his Fellowship award.

Earlier this year, the Energy Internship scheme was recognised in the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) Energy Awards 2017, winning in the category of Skills for Energy. This summer, the internship programme placed 20 interns in 18 businesses on the East Coast of England. Now in its second year, the scheme has also been extended to the West Coast and a further five interns were placed in three companies in the Barrow region.
